ST. PETERSBURG — She once complained to the Florida Bar that attorney Darryl Rouson had duped her.
Now, Calvester Benjamin-Anderson will challenge him for the District 55 house seat.
Benjamin-Anderson, a longtime St. Petersburg resident, qualified as a write in candidate last week.
Her opponents also include educator Charles McKenzie and St. Petersburg City Council Member Earnest Williams.
In 2003, Benjamin-Anderson said Rouson had charged her an excessive legal fee for a federal lawsuit she filed against Florida
Power Corp, which alleged sexual and racial bias on the job. The suit was dismissed by a judge. The Bar also dismissed the complaint.
It's unclear what prompted Benjamin-Anderson to enter the race at the last minute. She did not immediately return a request for
comment Wednesday.
The primary election is March 25.
